In September 2023, CEDI Europe signed a contract with the Ministry of Agriculture in Guyana for the Support for Ministry of Agriculture Laboratories and offices, part of the Sustainable Agriculture Development Programme (SADP). The project involved procuring advanced laboratory equipment from a wide range of international manufacturers for the Guyana Food Safety Authority and the Soils Laboratory, and field equipment for extension offices. CEDI Europe’s responsibilities extended beyond the mere delivery of equipment, including coordinating the consolidation of equipment from various manufacturers for streamlined transportation, performing pre-installation site visits, conducting the installation of equipment, and providing training to end-users. Effective time management has been crucial, particularly due to the ongoing construction of one of the labs and the need for specific reagents for many of the advanced instruments requiring specialized transportation and storage. On the 7th of October 2024, the state-of-the-art Soils Laboratory was commissioned. The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Agriculture of Guyana, who stressed that the facility will enable farmers to take advantage of emerging technologies to reduce the amount of manual work, and contribute to a further reduction in food imports in Guyana.
